'Fame' star grateful to her Grandma, Sylvia La Torre
-Posted by: Lauren
LOS ANGELES—For Anna Maria Perez de Tagle, one of the rewards of having Sylvia La Torre as a grandmother is that she learned such songs as “Bahay Kubo” and “Sa Kabukiran” from no less than the iconic entertainer herself.
Anna, who appears in the “re-imagining” of the 1980 musical film, “Fame,” is grateful that her first voice lessons were with Sylvia, even if sometimes they had to do it on the phone. For a time, Anna and her parents, Artie Perez (Sylvia’s son) and Evelyn, and two older brothers, Juan Miguel and Antonio, lived in Northern California, while Sylvia was based in Southern California.
In our interview over late lunch, Anna recalled, “When my grandmother visited us, she would play the piano and say, ‘Sing this note.’ She was my babysitter. It was fun. She told me stories of her early days in show business.” ... Read More ...

Here we have for you some videos - behind the scenes of FAME cast! They are so cute and funny. Can't wait to put up more videos when I find them, especially those featuring Anna!
I've found this cool exclusive video where the actors and actresses talk about Fame, meaning Anna too! "What makes Fame unique is that it requires the cast to act, sing, dance and play instruments", from the director. It really showcases a lot of Anna's abilities to the audience, I'm sure.

Fame cast is very Vanity Fair
-Posted by: Lauren
Anna Maria Perez De Tagle gets tangled up with costar Paul Iacono in the June 2009 issue of Vanity Fair magazine.
Fame’s new faces — Anna, Paul, Kay Panabaker, Asher Book, Kherington Payne, Naturi Naughton, Collins Pennie, Walter Perez, Paul Mcgill and Kristy Flores — are all introduced in the issue.
The excerpt says, “One unintentionally refreshing upshot of a global financial meltdown is that kids may well choose to sing and dance again rather than pursue lucrative Wall Street jobs. Fame — the well-timed remake of the 1980 Oscar-winning movie may be the perfect elixir for our collective bailout blues.”

Anna Maria Perez de Tagle: Keep It Simple!
-Posted by: Lauren
Fame starlet Anna Maria Perez De Tagle just uploaded a few videos to her new YouTube account.
In the vids, the 18-year-old actress answered questions about her Fame character Joy, her fashion style and pranks on the set. Check it:
On her personal fashion style: “My character in the movie is very unique but I wouldn’t wear all of this [references her outfit she's wearing]. It’s better to be simple because then your true beauty comes shining through. That’s my fashion advice.”
On breaking Kay Panabaker’s trailer bed: “Paul McGill, who plays my best friend in the movie, Kevin, we were rehearsing in Kay’s trailer. She had wrapped already, so she wasn’t there. We were pulling out the bed because we were using it as a prop and I was on the edge of it and he jumped on it and it broke. It was slanted after that. We left a little note from ‘Goldilocks’ saying that it was too flimsy. She called me the next day saying, ‘Why is my bed broken?’”
On her character, Joy: “My character’s name is Joy and she’s an exuberant, aspiring actress. She’s very outgoing and outspoken. She wears these crazy things on her head and she has a lot to say. She doesn’t care what anyone thinks and it very talented. But what I like, is at the beginning you see her as a spastic puppy and she matures into this young lady in the movie. You really see the character development in Joy.”
